Vintage Elsa Peretti black jade jar necklace

Elsa Peretti's bottle necklace and bone cuff designs got her a contract with Tiffany on the spot. The first bottle necklace was made of sterling silver on a leather cord and went on to be produced in jade, gold, and turquoise with some being rounder or more open, and eventually being sold on chains. They're inspired by functional bud vase pendants (!!!!) the designer saw on girls in Italy.

Elsa Peretti is one of my all time favorite designers, I love the simplicity, elegance, and strength of her designs. Her jewelry stands alone, you don't need to wear anything else. Feels modern but knows its history. The absolute coolest.
